SEEME CITY

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what information SeeMe City collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can. We do not sell personal data.

SeeMe City is run by Octag AI LLC, a Florida limited liability company. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean that company. You can reach us at hello@seemecity.com.

What we collect

If you lease a sign

  • Your email address and your business name.
  • What you upload or type for your sign: images, headline, description, link, coupon, and any music or video link.
  • Your order details: the building, the signs, the dates and the price you paid.
  • Messages you send us.

Payments

You pay by card through Stripe. Stripe collects your card details and any billing details it asks for. We never see your full card number. Stripe tells us whether the payment worked. Stripe’s privacy policy explains what it does with your information.

When anyone visits

  • Anonymous counts. We count how often a sign is on screen, how often its detail card is opened, how often its link is clicked, and how often its coupon code is copied. We add these up per sign, per day, to show advertisers how their signs are doing. The totals are not linked to you.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our servers record your IP address, the time, the page or file you asked for, and your browser and device type. We use logs to keep the site working and safe.
  • Abuse limits. We use your IP address to limit abuse, such as how many leases can be started from one internet connection in an hour.
  • City votes. When you vote on a street's "Which city next?" sign, we keep your choice with a one-way hash of your IP address, so each internet connection votes once. We do not keep anything else about the vote.
  • Nearest street. To open the street closest to you, we look up the rough area of your IP address in a table on our own server (IP Geolocation by DB-IP) and read your device's time zone. We do not store your IP address or your location for this. A ZIP code you type is used only to find the nearest street. If you tap "Use my location", your browser finds the nearest street itself and your location is not sent to us.
  • Browser storage. The site keeps small items in your browser: a random visitor ID for page tests, which test versions you saw, the last street you walked, your city vote, and your place in the lease steps. We do not use advertising cookies.
  • Page tests. We show different versions of some pages, for example two versions of a button, to learn which works better. The random ID keeps you on the same version. We count, for each version, how many visitors took each step, such as opening the menu, starting a lease or paying. These counts are not linked to you.
  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use the site: pages viewed, the site that sent you, device and browser type, and rough location from your IP address. It sets cookies. We turned off Google's advertising features and Google signals. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland do not get analytics cookies. You can opt out with Google's opt-out add-on.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • take payment and run your lease;
  • review your sign and show it on the street;
  • email you receipts, review results, stats, renewal reminders and important notices;
  • show advertisers how their signs are doing, using the anonymous counts;
  • keep the site safe, stop fraud and abuse, and enforce our rules;
  • answer your questions and handle reports about signs; and
  • follow the law.

We only email buyers about their lease. If we ever want to send marketing email, we will ask first. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

What is public

Your sign is public. That includes your business name, images, headline, description, link, coupon, and any music or video link. It shows on the street, on your building’s own web page, and in the deals list if you add a coupon. Search engines may list those pages. Do not put anything in a sign that you do not want the whole internet to see.

Your email address is never shown on the site.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a few service providers to run SeeMe City. They may use your information only to do their job for us.

  • Stripe takes payments.
  • Google (Firebase and Google Cloud) hosts the site and stores our data and uploads. Its privacy policy applies.
  • An email service sends our emails to buyers.
  • Google Analytics measures how the site is used, as described above. Its privacy policy applies.
  • Google Fonts supplies the fonts on our pages. Your browser asks Google for the font files, so Google sees your IP address and browser details.
  • Automated review tools, ours or a provider’s, may help check signs and links before they go live.
  • The US National Weather Service supplies the Miami weather. Our servers fetch it. We send no personal data.

We may also share information if the law or a court requires it, or to protect people, the site or our rights. If someone reports a copyright or trademark problem with a sign, we may share the report, including the reporter’s name and contact details, with the person who leased the sign. If we sell or merge the business, your information may go to the new owner, who must follow this policy.

How long we keep it

  • Order and payment records: while your lease runs, and for up to 7 years after. Tax and accounting rules may require this.
  • Your sign: it is public while your lease runs. After the lease ends, the sign comes off the site, and we delete your uploaded files within 90 days.
  • Unfinished orders: if you start a lease and do not pay, we delete what you entered and uploaded within 30 days.
  • Server logs: about 30 days.
  • Anonymous counts: as long as the site runs. They are not personal data.
  • Emails and reports you send us: as long as we need them to help you and keep our records.

We may keep information longer if the law requires it, or to deal with a dispute.

Your choices

You can email hello@seemecity.com at any time to:

  • ask what information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • ask us to delete your information; or
  • ask us to stop emailing you, other than notices about your lease.

We may need to check that you are who you say you are, usually by having you reply from the email address on your order. We aim to answer within 30 days. We may keep what the law requires us to keep.

If you ask us to delete the information for a lease that is still running, we will take your sign down. Our refund rules in the Terms of Use still apply.

We handle these requests the same way for everyone in the US, whatever state you live in.

Children

SeeMe City is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. You must be 18 or older to lease a sign. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), and Stripe handles card details. We limit who can see your information to people and providers who need it to do their job. Keep your manage link private.

No website is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that your information will never be accessed without permission. If a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Where your information goes

SeeMe City is run from the United States. Your information is processed in the United States, and may also be processed in other places where our service providers work. If you use SeeMe City from outside the US, your information will be sent to the US.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top. If a change matters, we will email buyers who have a live lease.
