Ad Rules
These rules keep the street friendly, honest and safe. They apply to every sign: the image, the words, the link, the coupon, and any music or video link. If you lease a sign, you agree to these rules as part of the Terms of Use.
We review every sign before it goes live. We can remove a sign at any time if it breaks these rules.
Make it yours to use
You must own everything you upload, or have permission to use it. This includes:
- logos, brand names and photos;
- art, text and designs; and
- music and video that you link to.
Stock images and other licensed material are fine if the license lets you use them in ads. If we ask, please show us that you have permission.
Do not use another business’s name, logo or trademark without its permission. A plain, true mention is usually fine, such as a shop saying which phone brands it repairs, as long as it does not suggest the brand backs you. If you are not sure, ask us before you buy.
Content we do not allow
A sign may not contain or promote any of these:
- Adult content. Nudity, sexual content, adult services, or anything meant only for adults.
- Weapons. Guns, ammunition, explosives and other weapons.
- Drugs. Illegal drugs, drug equipment, and anything that promotes drug use. This includes cannabis, even where it is legal.
- Gambling. Betting, casinos, lotteries, sweepstakes, and prize contests or giveaways.
- Hate. Content that attacks or demeans people because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or other protected traits.
- Harassment. Bullying, threats, or targeting a person or group. Do not post anyone’s private details.
- Politics. No political or issue ads at launch. That means ads for candidates, parties, elections or ballot measures, and ads that argue one side of a public issue.
Be honest
- No scams. No fake offers, phishing, pyramid schemes, fake reviews, or anything built to trick people.
- No misleading health claims. No miracle cures, and no claims to treat or cure a disease without proof.
- No misleading money claims. No guaranteed profits, income or returns, and no misleading prices.
- No impersonation. Do not pretend to be a person, a brand, a business or a government office, and do not suggest that they back you.
- No disguise. We label every paid sign “Ad”. Do not hide the label, and do not make your sign look like a news story, a notice from SeeMe City, or a message from anyone else.
Coupons
- A coupon must be real.
- You must honor it for anyone who follows its terms, until it expires.
- It cannot run past the end of your lease.
- A coupon is your offer, not ours. SeeMe City is not a party to it.
Links, music and video
Every link must:
- start with
https://and go to a page that works; - match what your sign says; and
- be safe, with no malware, phishing or fake login pages.
Do not use a link to start a download that people did not expect, to track people in ways they would not expect, or to send them somewhere other than what the sign promised. Normal website analytics are fine. Hidden tracking that follows people around the web is not.
Music and video links, for example YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud or Vimeo, must be yours to share. These rules also apply to what is on the other side of a link. We can remove a sign if the page or video it links to breaks the rules.
If a sign breaks the rules
- Before it goes live: we reject it, tell you why, and refund you in full.
- After it goes live: we can take it down at any time, with or without warning, and end your lease. You do not get a refund.
- Repeated or serious breaks: we can end all your leases and refuse new ones.
- If you think we got it wrong: email us and say why. A person will take a second look.
We may update these rules. If an update affects a live sign, we will tell you and give you a fair chance to fix it, unless the problem is serious or legal. The Terms of Use explain refunds in full.
Report a sign
Anyone can report a sign. You do not need to be a customer. Email hello@seemecity.com and tell us:
- which sign: the building address (for example, Ocean Ave #42), which sign on it (main, shop, rooftop, bus or blimp), or a link to its page;
- what is wrong, such as trademark, copyright, impersonation, a scam, or another rule;
- why you think so, with proof if you have it; and
- your name and how to reach you.
We act fast. We aim to look at every report within one business day. If a report looks serious, we may hide the sign while we check. We keep reports private where we can, but we may share a copyright or trademark report with the person who leased the sign.
For a trademark complaint, please also tell us the trademark and who owns it (add the registration number if you have one), what you sell under it, how the sign uses it, and why that is not allowed. For example, it could make people think the sign is connected to you. Include a statement that your information is accurate and that you own the trademark or are allowed to act for the owner.
Copyright notices
We respect copyright and follow the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). If you believe a sign uses your work without permission, send a written notice to our copyright contact below. Your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature, or that of a person authorized to act for the copyright owner. Typing your full name is fine.
- A description of the copyrighted work you say was copied. If several works are covered, a list is fine.
- A description of the material you want removed, and where it is, with enough detail for us to find it. For example, the building address and sign, or a link to its page.
- Your name, mailing address and email address, and a phone number if you have one.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not allowed by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act for the owner.

We may send a copy of your notice, including your contact details, to the person who leased the sign. Do not include anything you want kept private.
Please do not send a false notice. If you knowingly say that something is infringing when it is not, you may be responsible for costs and damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).
We end the lease of anyone who repeatedly infringes copyright.
Counter-notices
If we remove your sign because of a copyright notice, we will tell you and send you a copy of the notice. If you believe we removed it by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- A description of the sign that was removed, and where it appeared before.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith that the sign was removed by mistake or was misidentified.
- Your name, mailing address and phone number.
- A statement that you agree to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the area where you live (or, if you live outside the US, any court where we can be found), and that you will accept legal papers from the person who sent the notice.
We will pass your counter-notice to the person who complained. Unless that person tells us they have gone to court, we may put your sign back 10 to 14 business days after we receive your counter-notice.
